Florals

The locals told me that these were for remembering some great people in the town, and I hated myself for not being able to recall who were mentioned, but R.I.P
I changed upon these lovely little red "poppy-liked" paper flowers in Leeds. The poppy is one of my favourite flower and I'd loved to actually be able to plant them one day.

Blue Inspiration

This card was created for an ex-colleague of mine. Thoughts of blue and purple came to my mind as i was thinking about her. She is also a textile designer, very fine arts based and always full of thoughts.

Beautiful colours of nature. The golden yellow, mustard and hues of lilac to purple were enhanced by the blackness of the bee.

Prints

... another print created by the talented FD3A1 students. They worked in groups of 3 and they worked 3 hrs every week, for 3 weeks, to present this fabulous assignment.
An ex-student and a friend now, Teddy Or has created this print for his textile print assignment. I really don't recall asking him the inspiration behind this. Very clashing clours but eye-catching print !
Prints for Hansel, a Singapore fashion label. www.ilovehansel.com

This print was created by an ex-student, Joleen Nan. She was not a textile student but was sneaking into my print studio.
I allowed her and see what she did!!
I still love this picture.

Opaque, transparency

This is Ambross, my little fish. I spotted him at the aquarium and took him home immediately!
He is almost transparent and I love watching him every moment I have.
The man at the aquarium told me its hard to have a fish that is opaque like Ambross, :)
The lotus motif was printed on canvas, on cotton and then onto voile.I really loved the transparency of the outcome. The over-lapping prints and cris-crossing of strokes, formed a natural chaos on the final product... ... ... ... the soft, transparent scarf

Hand-Dyed

"Beyond", a fresh fashion label created by one of my very good students for their graduation(fashion merchandising & marketing).
It was a group work and the 4 girls were fantastic!
They've dyed, tested and proved that their label carries hand-dyed, comfortable garmetns for children.
This piece of sample was created with dip dying in blue, and painted over with bleach. It was an inspiration from Chinese-styled furnitures.
I've always love to get my hands "dirty" in the print room, especially with my students and sharing the joy of seeing the colors and effects produced after the tie-and-dye sessions.

Tie-and-dye workshop !
If you ask me :"what's most enjoyable about your job?"
I would say :"when i am with my students, experimenting and getting all excited in our workshop!"
Nothing compares to seeing smiles on my students' faces when they achieve their sample pieces, and ready to proceed to actualising the final product :)

This pale blue linen was hand dyed and printed with the lotus buds in brown. The poem was over print in antique gold.
